It’s been a while. Again. A few months ago Marceltipool looked no more. Several aborted attempts to rejuvenate the interest in training had seemingly knocked the final nails in the coffin and the ideal of a football club for the Olympique de Marseille, Celtic and Liverpool-friendly in London appeared to have simply returned to my imagination. |

It’s been a while since I last updated you on the fortunes of London’s premier and, at time of going to press, only football club for fans of Olympique de Marseille, Celtic and Liverpool. That’s mainly due to actually being busy with actually turning up to training sessions. |

Marceltipool – the fledgling club for London-based Olympique de Marseille, Celtic and Liverpool fans – is coming along very nicely. Disappointingly, still no Marseille fans are involved but our first training session should be taking place over the next week or so and ideas are being bounced around for next season. The club even has a nickname! I wonder if “Mc’ool” will catch on… |

Setting up football teams is tough. If one has knowledge of the amateur game and a pool of former teammates and friends happy to come along for the ride then it helps. I don’t. I haven’t played Sunday league football in a few years and never in London. As for my friends, they tend to either enjoy playing World of Warcraft or with their hair or other areas of their anatomy. |

Onwards and upwards Many moons ago when flicking through copy of the free Sport newspaper I stumbled upon a piece on a website that acted as a classifieds directory for football teams searching for players and vice versa. With the best of intentions (specifically: offering myself as a lazy inside-left with a shot outcome sequence of goal kick, trickled into keeper’s arms, throw-in and goal) I vowed to sign up that evening. I fell short. |
